Rise of the Machines
The Australian home of inappropriate bikes on the dirt.
Dirt Quake kicked off in the UK in 2012 and was the inspiration for our event later the same year. Since then Dirt Quake USA started, Snow Quake is now a thing, Sydney Cafe Racers has got in the act with their own version of AFTERSHOCK and Ellaspede in Queensland hold events called Dust Hustle.
2 hours east of Perth, 80 or so bikes and a similar amount of nutters will put their bodies on the line, in the pursuit of shitty trophies....if we remember to bring them. They won't be riding dirt bikes to ride on the dirt because thats sensible and AFTERSHOCK is certainly not that. Road bikes with dirt tyres, chariots, postie bikes, ag bikes, motorised couches and crazy contraptions are what we're looking for.
(You can bring dirt bikes to ride as there is heaps of space and lots of free time but it isn't in the spirit of the event so we don't allow them in the badly organised "races").
There are 3 rules at AFTERSHOCK
1. If you are on the track, wear a helmet.
2. Ride in an anti clockwise direction
3. If there are keys in a bike and you can start it then you can ride it. You don't need to ask permission. They are usually passed out anyway.
AFTERSHOCK 8 will once again be held at TAMMIN and the order of events will be similar to what it says below...
Friday night
BYO food. Camp ground and track is open.
- NIGHT TIME DIRT DRAGS
(Get dragged behind a bike while dressed in Drag so bring a dress). Make-up wins bonus points
Saturday

- 24 MINS LE MONS : heats - (Teams of four will compete to see who can do the most laps) : Middle Oval
- LEADERBOARD CHALLENGE : Flying Lap - Just like on Top Gear, who can do the fastest flying lap : Small Oval
- MAYHEM - Everyone on the track at the same time to do 5 laps. Finishing place on the Leaderboard Challenge will determine starting place on the Grid of Mayhem : Forrest Track, Canyon, Beside the Canyon, Middle Oval and Small Oval
1pm - Lunch supplied
- JOKER : 4 heats each of 4 laps, including a joker lap of the Beside the Canyon track. 12 highest point scorers go through to the semis : Middle Oval

- JOKER : two semi finals of 6 riders - 4 laps, including a joker lap of the Beside the Canyon track. Highest point scorers go through to the semis : Middle Oval
- JOKER : One all out final of 6 riders - 4 laps, including a joker lap of the Beside the Canyon track. No timing, first over the line : Middle Oval
- PUB CRAWL : For legal reasons, it's best we don't describe what this involves.
6pm - Long Table Banquet supplied
- WHEEL OF MISFORTUNE - If you've done something stupid then you'll be nominated throughout the day to participate by spinning the buckled wheel of misfortune. What will your punishment be?
The Cockroach Blow, A game we like to call First Strike, Spoonful of Wasabi, Pool Noodle Cocktail - THE OLLIES - Like The Oscars but named after someone who didn't show up. The Queen of AFTERSHOCK 8 will be announced and asked to sift through a cardboard box to find their trophy.
- MAYPOLE - Think musical chairs but around a bonfire and we're on motorbikes.
AFTERSHOCK BAND - Dan Howls
This isn't the Blues Brothers, please don't punch on with the band unless they start it...like last time.
https://www.triplejunearthed.com/artist/dan-howls : https://www.facebook.com/danhowlsmusic/ : https://danhowls.bandcamp.com/
- NIGHT TIME DIRT DRAGS - Same as the previous nights drags but more dangerous.
Sunday
8am - Breakfast supplied
People are usually too injured or buggered or drunk so we have breakfast and then pack up and go home. The tracks are open though.
The people have spoken and decided the theme for AFTERSHOCK 8 is Rise Of The Machines so we want to see some crazy contraptions and some crazier outfits. There will be a shitty trophy that you can display with pride in your pool room for the machine that everyone wants to ride.
Do I need a bike?
No but it certainly makes it easier. Many people come and enjoy the fun using other peoples bikes. Most bikes are shitters but there are some absolute doosies that rock up...and even those guys are pretty free with the keys.
Is it a full program or is there time to get on the track/s by myself
There is heaps of time between events to get your slide on.
How do I find the place?
Check the map and look out for the rest stop on the right hand side (heading east). You should see a dodgy handmade sign pointing to the dusty driveway. Follow the orange cones and introduce yourself at the AFTERSHOCK BAR & GRILL before setting up camp.
NOTE: The map is close but not exact. This map will help you once you are on the property.
Is there a group leaving from Perth that I could travel with?
There is usually a convoy that leaves from Midland Shopping Gate. The Facebook page is the best place to arrange something like this. Also have a look on the Perth Street Bikes forum.
What does the ticket price include?
Camp site, toilets, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday is prepared for you as is breakfast on Sunday. Unlimited tea and coffee. Use of facilities and participation in events. There are cooking facilities that you can use on the Friday night.
Are there trophies?
There will be a trophy for the Queen of AFTERSHOCK 8 and whatever else we come up with on the night.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes, yes you do. Helmets are mandatory. If you are on a bike and it's moving, a helmet must be worn. All other saftey gear is recommended but optional.
Is alcohol available?
We looked into it but it isn't worth the hassle of supplying it so its BYO. We'll have some bins with ice in for you keep your refreshments cool. AFTERSHOCK is a pretty chilled atmosphere with people sharing bikes, beers and other booze but it's best to ask before helping yourself to someones else drinks.
We'll release more info once we know what we're doing....
